How to choose your beekeeping outfit?
Your beekeeping outfit has to meet a number of standards, not least that it protects you from bee stings, while giving you freedom of movement wherever you go. Here’s everything you need to know about the different types of protective beekeeping clothing (gloves, veil, coveralls, hat, jacket, etc.) to make your choice easier with Apiprotec.
Why use a beekeeping suit?
A beekeeper’s garment must ensure maximum safety, since it covers every surface of your skin, while allowing you to move around with ease. Maneuverability is very important in beekeeping, as smooth, calm movements reduce the risk of irritating the bees.
At Apiprotec, we use white beekeeping outfits, as this is the color that is least likely to disturb the bees, who equate darker colors with predators or holes.
THE PERFORMANCE OF OUR 300-GRAM SERGE COTTON FABRIC ensures :
- Safe, dimensionally stable, in compliance with EN ISO 13688 requirements
- The fabric ensures tensile strength to ENISO 13934-1 = minimum 800 N
- The fabric provides tear resistance to ENISO 13937-2 = minimum 15 N
- The mesh gives you the required burst strength, according to ENISO 13938-1 = minimum 800 N
- Fabric basis weight according to EN 12127 minimum 240g/m².
- Mesh thickness according to EN ISO 5084 > 2.5 mm
What are the different elements of a beekeeping outfit?
